Drive through the historic area of Castlereagh, site of a major battle ground between the early white settlers and the local Dharug aboriginals. Stop off at the Regatta Centre and the Whitewater course ( not possible during Olympics) to see where all the Olympic action happens during 2000 Olympics. Experience some aboriginal art and culture. An opportunity to purchase a boomerang or a didgeridoo to take home with you. Our tour then takes us to the historic town of Windsor for a wander around the antique and craft shops. Morning tea at your own cost in one of the many coffee shops or enjoy a beer in one of the areas oldest hotels on the banks of the Hawkesbury River. On our way to a lookout with a great view of Sydney city (on a clear day) we will stop off at an aboriginal rock carving and shelter site. Enjoy a short bush walk and learn about the beautiful native plants as we listen to the sounds of the bush and experience the smells of the foliage from some of the great Australian Eucalyptus and Tea Tree species. The Tour Guide will discuss the use by the aborigines of the plants for food and medicine and ceremony. Lunch will be taken at a café at your own expense. A quick visit to St Mary's to the historic house "Mamre" built for the Reverent Samuel Marsden. Visit the onsite museum. Our tour will finish with a visit to St Mary’s coin and stamp shop where you have the opportunity to purchase a quality souvenir. Tour bus will return you to your hotel.
